Thanks to everyone who attended my workshops September 28, 2024 at the Sheep River Library! I hope that you enjoyed learning about study skills and goal setting.

As promised, here are the slides.

For the goal setting workshop, I have also included two of the handouts for the class activity.

This workshop was aimed at students in grades 9-12. It will covered study environment tips, time management, note-taking, what a teacher usually means when they tell you to “read this part of the textbook,” review strategies for before and after a test, and test-taking skills.

Setting and Meeting Class Goals

This workshop was aimed at high school students with their parent(s). It covered setting short- and long-term goals, how to break down goals into smaller milestones to help reach targets, and how parents can help their students achieve success in their classes and careers. Parents and students will work together to start putting their new skills before the end of the class.

Students in grades 9-10 were required to bring at least one parent or guardian.

Students in grades 11-12 were strongly encouraged to bring at least one parent or guardian. While the workshop activities can be completed as an individual, they are much easier with a second person.
